The purpose is simply to show side-by-side the different ways a button can be used in a game. If you're thinking about making a game, this could help you think about the user interaction elements.

User input types could be an interesting alternative way to categorise games rather than by traditional genres.

This exercise only focuses on simple key presses, but similar breakdowns could be made for 2D, 3D, mouse based, joystick based, text based games and so on.
